Who is driving the evolution of the business model?
Innovations do not arise from the masses. Innovations arise from the vision of individuals who manage to inspire the masses. Digitalization without vision leads to the digitalization of the current state and thus does not result in sustainable efficiency gains. Visions do not arise in a vacuum. They arise from opportunities and current pain.
Mission and Vision
Visions can only emerge in the context of strategy and problems. Anything outside of this field of tension does not lead to any added value. Vision ideas can be driven by individuals. However, they require generalists from business, technology and product design to shape them into an implementable vision.
The solution does not determine the vision. It is the problem to be solved and the technological improvements that form the basis for selecting the solutions. To do this, it is imperative that different experience horizons develop the vision. This avoids developing faster horses when the tractor is the more efficient and sustainable solution.
Visions must be implemented iteratively and adapted to new findings. Visions are never comprehensive and detailed, but they create the framework for the specialists and are thus the communicative guideline against which the efficiency and sustainability of the finished solution must be measured.
Visions must be communicated and made tangible if they are to be accepted.
